A litter report from last week’s beach clean up

Caloundra, Sunshine Coast, Sunday high noon.

We join the team of Sea Shepherd Marine Debris to help clean Bulcock Beach.

Equipped with gloves and bags we swarm out – to pick up every piece of waste. On first sight, things don’t look too bad. But seeing the amount of trash collected surprised us!

230 people from Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide,Melbourne, Perth, Cocos Keeling Island and Albany removed nearly 39,000 pieces of debris from our coastline collectively.

A few thoughts:

  • There is always something to pick up – so do it.
  • Join the next clean up near you, it is great fun and karma will strike back.
  • Don’t throw anything into nature that doesn’t belong there. Never. (Especially cigarette butts)
“Expect a Miracle” – a wondrous find
